What does a reiki healing session with Sertoma Wellness look like?

Have you ever heard of reiki? It’s a Japanese word that translates to Rei: sacred and Ki: energy. This sacred healing energy exists within all living things and can be harnessed through intention. Everything that happens in the body physically, first happens energetically. That’s why it is so important to have regular energy work done so that you create a paradise within your own body and are able to connect clearly with your soul.
.
Reiki is known to help depression, anxiety, physical ailments, disease and disorders! Plus there are zero negative side effects to having an energy healing done.
.
I will guide you through breath work, meditation and visualization as I align your chakras, send healing energy to the places within you it is needed most and cleanse your aura.
.
I like to begin the session with setting an intention and then taking vitals to assess where we need to go from there!
.
If you are looking to heal physical ailments I offer acupressure mat (no additional cost) as well as upgrade options such as relaxation massage, CBD and Icy Hot! I like to do a combo to hit every tight nerve!
.
Also during your session, we will pull a reiki oracle card and receive divination (information from the Universe) about your healing journey.
.
During your healing, crystals will be placed on your chakras and around your being to help amplify this healing energy.
.
Online booking and distance healings available!

July Vibes

July mantra: “I plant seeds & meditate in the garden.”
.
.
I know we are already 4 days in, but I’ve been soaking up my anniversary weekend, time in the garden and lovely moments with my family.
.
.
I’ve been planting seeds, both literally and figuratively. Growing cucumbers, tomatoes, mint and calendulas while creating a course in mindfulness (available in the downloads section on my website!) studying for my #doula certification test and creating some amazing content to share with you soon while already planning the next steps on my #holistichealth business expansion! Even though there are lots of big things on the horizon, I am making a point of slowing down, tuning in, noticing the magic and appreciating each and every step of this sacred journey.

The Cesarean: Part of my Birth Story

The cesarean: How I feared you, how I tried so hard to avoid you. But 6 months later- I’m grateful for my c-section and here’s why.
.
I was pregnant for 42 weeks and a day followed by 46 hours of labor. I labored naturally for 27 hours and dilated to 3.5 cm. By the time my midwives recommended hospital transfer I was already packing my bag and ready for an epidural (also something I thought I didn’t want during my birth)
.
I will always try the holistic method first but knowing we have western medicine options can be a God-send. Having pain relief after my days of labor was a game changer.
.
The pain meds were like night and day. I couldn’t believe how much better I felt finally being able to rest, hydrate, breathe and simply be in my body.
.
After another 19 hours of labor, I was finally at 10cm but the pressure on my butt was excruciating.
.
After 4 hours of pushing my midwives suggested c-section but were very supportive in me advocating for myself and listened to what I thought, felt and needed.
.
“Ok, I want to push through 1 more round of contractions and then I agree, let’s do the c-section.”
.
Even though I was terrified, I was also prepared for this as a possibility and was still able to go into it feeling informed and in charge.
.
My 5’3, previously 110 lb being birthed a beautiful 8.8 lb baby girl with a head in the 91% for size!
.
When I saw her head and the trauma on her skull- it was obvious she wasn’t coming out vaginally without worse head trauma and probably either tearing me or cracking my coccyx (which is probably all the pressure I felt)
.
Obviously I can’t say for sure those things would have happened but I look back on my birth and feel I did what was best for me and my baby.
.
Yoga and reiki allowed me to heal quickly and have a blissful fourth trimester- filled with love, bonding and all the oxytocin highs you could imagine.
.
As doulas, we are trained to avoid c-section when we can. But as your doula, if this happens- we are going to make it a powerful and beautiful experience for you. Just like it was for me!
.
All paths to birth are sacred.

My Birth Story: Part One (three weeks later)

Little Lo is 3 weeks old today and it’s insane how much January 18 was a day of birth for both of us. During my pregnancy, I took moments of mourning to honor the end of my maiden era. Becoming a mother has transformed me physically, mentally and most of all- spiritually.
.
There is no love like the one that springs from true love. I am so grateful and so blessed to have Jeff as my husband, my best friend for life and the father of our baby girl.
.
I fell in love with her a little more each day she grew inside my womb and now that she is earth side, my love grows exponentially.
.
Throughout pregnancy, we planned to have a holistic, natural water birth. My pregnancy went 42 weeks and 1 day (15 days past her due date) and just as I was about to enter “high risk” territory of pregnancy, my water broke. We went to the birth center where I endured natural labor for 27 hours straight. This time redefined my pain tolerance and honestly changed me as a person. After 27 hours, I had only dilated 3.5 cm…it was time to call it and head to the hospital. The second I arrived I asked for an epidural and pain meds- things I was desperately trying to avoid but I met my threshold for pain. 19 more hours of labor and once I was 10cm dilated, after 46 hours of labor and positioning to get her in the perfect spot to be birthed, we pushed and pushed and pushed until the midwives told me: “we are trying to fit a square through a circle here, at this point we suggest c-section but it’s up to you.” I told them I wanted to try pushing 1 more time, then I agreed that surgery might be the only way to get her out. The pain I endured, the pressure I physically felt and the exhaustion of pushing as hard as I could…it was time to go under the knife. I was terrified but trying to be brave, crying a little bit and making jokes with the surgeons to ease my nerves…10 minutes into the operation she was out, 30 minutes later I was being rolled out and given my brand new baby girl.
.
After 46 hours of laboring in water, doing positions to get her in the right spot, transferring to the hospital, doing more labor positions and pushing harder than I knew I had strength for….
There she was. 8.8 lbs, 21 inches and completely perfect && suddenly it didn’t matter how she came into the world. My whole universe changed and was redefined by this sweet little angel I had been bestowed. As much as I pride myself for being all natural, holistic and in tune with my body…I made the right calls to bring my baby safely in to the world and I accept the power of knowing I AM the only one who can make those calls as a mother. I gained so much power in accepting my birth plan going right out the window and embracing each challenge with my family in mind and zen in my soul. I’ll be sharing more tidbits from my birth journey over on @sertoma.wellness : check it out for holistic health, yoga, reiki and of course all things pregnancy, birth and postpartum 💛

Moving from fear ----to----> love

Both fear and love exist in each of us- the trick is knowing what to give power to. What we focus on expands, therefor it is so important to be aware of the thoughts and feelings in your heart and mind.
.
Next time you’re struggling, ask yourself “Am I operating from a place of fear or love?” Most likely your anxiety, mistrust, feelings of lack, anger or confusion are stemmed in the root of fear.
.
So how do we move from a place of fear to a place of love? Of clarity? Of resolve?
.
The first step is to be aware of our feelings and triggers and to greet them not with judgement or resentment but with understanding. Treat your demons like you wish you were treated as a child or in a relationship. Give yourself the space and grace to say “Ok, I’m probably just feeling this way because of *insert personal trauma or outdated mindset here* && that’s okay because now that I know this- I can move forward.”
.
Ask yourself “What would my highest self do?” Or “What do I feel in my soul God wants for me?” However you view the Universe…view yourself in the same divine light.
.
You wouldn’t shame a child who is scared of the dark, you would hold them and reassure them that fear is natural but it doesn’t need to overcome us.
.
We are all children in the dark from time to time…but with love, we shed light and transcend.
.
The world has been such a harsh place lately and it needs a little more focus on forgiveness, on love & on gentle understanding with the intention of raising the vibration from one of fear to one of LOVE.
.
Be the love you want to see in the world. Create a gentle inner world and it will expand to your outer world.
.
With love, we can do anything.
.
Peace
Love
Namaste

The Reiki Symbols

Picture
Drawing, visualizing and using reiki symbols can deeply enhance any reiki healing session and can energize one's daily life.

These symbols unlock the flow of reiki and enhance universal life force energy surrounding them. Reiki masters become linked with these symbols for life and use them to amplify their abilities.

The reiki symbols act as a bridge between the healer and the recipient that connects both entities to their highest selves.

These symbols are activated  through drawing or visualizing these symbols onto the reiki recipient or drawing them in the air over the image of the person for a distance healing.

Many reiki healers imagine these symbols in glowing, divine white light energy.

Below are three main symbols used in reiki...

Cho Ku Rei

The Cho Ku Rei aka the power symbol of reiki is often referred to as "the light switch" as it is the activator for all the other symbols. This is the primary symbol of reiki.

This symbol breaks down into three parts;
CHO- to cut (to remove illusions in order to see the whole)
KU- penetrating
REI- universal and omni-present

This symbol is associated with physical healing, purification, energy cleansing and all around good vibes.

Cho Ku Rei meditation: Sit in lotus position with hands in gassho (prayer position) and imagine a white energy coming from your third eye in the form of the Cho Ku Rei- breathe into the power of this symbol, feeling it's energy becoming more powerful with each breath.

Sei Hei Ki

The Sei Hei Ki symbol is the symbol of emotional and mental balance. It is often used for purification, cutting cords, treating addictions, and helping with emotional issues such as fear, anger or anxiety.

Some people see this symbol as the waves of the ocean meeting the beach, others see the wings of a bird in flight.

The meaning of this symbol also breaks down into root parts;

SEI- birth (coming into being)
HEIKI- balance and equilibrium

In order to activate this symbol,  first visualize the Cho Ku Rei and then the Sei Hei Ki. Chant each of these 3 times, starting and ending with Cho Ku Rei

"Cho Ku Rei, Cho Ku Rei, Cho Ku Rei
Sei Hei Ki, Sei Hei Ki, Sei Hei Ki
Cho Ku Rei, Cho Ku Rei, Cho Ku Rei"

Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen

The Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is the distance symbol of reiki. This symbol as well as reiki energy is known to transcend space and time. This can be used to send healing energy to the past, future or to the present across the Universe.

This symbol represents timelessness and shows that energy has intelligence and will flow wherever it is needed.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is often used when working with childhood trauma and past life regressions.

This symbol is also believed to be a key to the Akashic records- the source of all sentience.

To activate this symbol, first invoke the Cho Ku Rei and Sei Hei Ki and then visualize this symbol while chanting
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen three times, ending with a chant of Cho Ku Rei.

Making the Shift

Picture
Let’s talk about the SHIFT! If you are on my page, chances are you are at a point in your life where you are ready to look at your shadows, shine some light and level up to that best and better self you know yourself to be. Here are some things you can do in your life to level up, be your best self and make the shift!

1. Create a list or vision board of your ideal life
( i.e. teaching yoga regularly, working for myself, being a healer in my community, revolutionizing how people around me perceive health, life and their connection with the Universe)

2. Realistically figure out the big and small steps you need to take to be that best self.
( Big step: quit that corporate job! Small step: start doing 10 minute meditations first thing in the morning)

3. Start showing up as your highest self and really believe in what you’re doing. Dedicate a day of the week to the practices that elevate you- sign up for a yoga class, go for a hike, write in your journal, cook yourself a healthy meal, meditate and dedicate yourself to who you’re becoming.

4. Throw self doubt out the door!!
I’m serious, self doubt and down talk have no place on the journey to our highest. Once you release the anxiety and fear of “What if it’s too much work, what if I can’t? What if someone else does it better?” You will be left with only excitement! And once you have that- it will energize you and propel you forward. We really don’t even realize as humans how much of our precious energy is straight up wasted on the worry.

5. Affirm!
Tell yourself “Yes! I am getting better every day.”

“Yes! I was put on these planets with these passions and this perspective for a REASON and I will live that reason.”
“Heck yes! I am creating my ideal reality.”
“I believe in myself! I am worthy of my dreams.”
&& even if you don’t fully believe your affirmations at first- everyone from the tiny cells in your body to the entirety of the cosmos divine can hear you. So speak it into existence. Thought begets reality.

6. Keep at it.
Be patient and know that the opportunities and people meant for you are coming in perfect timing.
In the mean time, just try to learn from every little thing.

As I sit here, cat in lap, typing my first blog for Sertoma Wellness...I know deep down that this is part of the shift.
My website used to be named for just me and I shared everything from my modeling & photography to my health ad wellness journey. But this is different. What I'm doing now is being done with a set intention of healing my community and my world.

What dreams do you have that are calling to you? I promise they are just waiting to manifest.

Xx- Hart
